CAN I INSTALL PEEL AND STICK MEMBRANE ON ICFS IN THE COLD?
There are 2 preferred options when it comes to installing peel and stick membranes during the winter:
1) Wait until the weather warms up.
2) Or switch to a dimple board for winter installations.
If You Do Choose to Proceed With Applying P&S in the Cold, Here Are Some Tips From the Field:
Membranes all have minimum temperature requirements for applications – check if yours is suitable for the temperature you are working in.
Use a primer rated for the temperature you are working in.
If you are installing between 0 to -5°C, keep rolls of the peel and stick warm before applying (In a vehicle).
A heat gun can also be used to activate the glue (just enough to warm up the sticky side)
Have two to three people crew for install
If the braces are still up on the wall, that would help with one person holding the sheet and the other one or two applying it to the wall.
Make sure you secure the top of the peel and stick to the Logix ICF® block with tape, or 2” plastic washers, or just screwing a 1×4 around the top of the whole perimeter.
Roll the membrane to maximize contact adhesion.
