Is an ICF Foundation Good for A Modular Home?
Yes, an ICF basement will increase the overall performance of a modular home and, if you add egress windows, it can add very comfortable and usable living space to a modular home.
There are many different types of modular homes on the market today. They range from basic dwellings to well-built and energy-efficient higher-end homes. An ICF foundation will be suitable for all types.
For more basic trailer park-type modular homes ICF foundations are a superior option when compared to the lower-cost pier foundations that are often used. An ICF foundation is easy to install and will provide a sturdy and well-insulated basement or crawlspace and will not require a vinyl or aluminum skirt.
DIY’ers with the requisite experience and abilities can self-install their own ICF foundations if they wish to, especially if the footprint is not too complex.
And finally, an ICF foundation is also typically a stronger foundation than a conventionally formed foundation because it will usually be built with vertical and horizontal rebar.
